Construction Progress Update – 3/17/2023

The Tisbury School Project continues to move forward and remains on time and within budget. As the Secant Pile installation nears completion, construction has begun for the retaining wall system which, once complete, will allow the excavation work to begin for the new addition. The concrete foundations work is expected to begin on the last week of March, following the completion of the bulk excavations. Concrete slab removal for the existing boiler room has begun. Selective demolition in the interior of the existing school continues with window removal and simultaneous abatement of the window sealants. As windows are removed, temporary window enclosures are installed. Unseen conditions in areas of the 1929 building, discovered on completion of the interior demolition, require work to replace shims placed 100 years ago with solid wood blocking to stabilize bearing of the bar joist seats. Installation of ¾” plywood atop the existing board sub-floor is also required to provide rigidity to the existing floor/ceiling assemblies. The work to address those unseen conditions will be completed by Change Order. Installation of the site drainage infiltration system at the front of the building is in progress and will be completed mid-March. Rebar/Concrete and Soils/Sub-Grade inspections will continue along with the progress of the work for this month.
